The Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T) Mission Systems Technologies (MST) capability team is seeking a Senior Manager, Technology Partnerships & Growth to manage key external relationships, strategically position the organization’s research & development (R&D) portfolio, and capture new business. This position can sit out of Tukwila WA, Huntington Beach CA, Hazelwood MO, Fairfax VA, or Huntsville AL.

BR&T’s Mission System Technologies (MST) organization performs advanced research and development (R&D) in the areas of Digital, Mixed Signal and RF Microelectronics, Sensors, Antennas & Apertures, Communications, Photonics, Cyber Security, Networks and Quantum Technologies. MST’s R&D portfolio consists of a mix of internally and customer funded projects, as well as many collaborative efforts with various Boeing business units. Our mission is to enable Boeing’s products and programs by fulfilling key technology needs.

Who YOU Are

As a Senior Manager for MST Technology Partnerships & Growth, you will be a part of an amazing collaborative team working to enable Boeing’s products and programs with novel technologies. You are strong leader and self-motivated individual, able to create value for the business by managing existing external partners and developing new relationships, drive cohesive technology strategies which transcend organizational boundaries, and grow the business by leading successful capture campaigns which capitalize on customer funded opportunities.

You will leverage past-experience and knowledge in mission systems and aerospace/military electronics development, including specialized knowledge in microelectronics, to seek and identify opportunities across the Boeing business units to drive impactful novel technology insertions, which serve as enablers for business execution and growth.

Your prior demonstrated leadership in executing successful new business shaping, capture campaigns, and proposals will serve you as a Capture Team Lead (CTL), for significant Contracted R&D (CRAD) opportunities, where you will compose and lead talented multi-disciplinary teams of engineers, program/project managers, principle investigators (PIs), proposal managers, and personnel specialized in business development, pricing, supplier management, IP, and legal functions. You will lead by example while offering insight, coaching and mentorship to proteges as aspiring CTL’s. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manages strategic external corporate and academic partnership pursuits and relationships.

    • Ensures effective communication with current and prospective partners, serving as a focal for the relationship within Boeing.

    • Develops relationships with potential future business partners aligned with strategic capability and new business capture needs.

    • Constructs effective agreements with business partners to meet strategic objectives.

  • Manages strategic customer communications & initiatives.

    • Ensures effective communication with customers to develop trust with influential customer and advisors.

    • Shapes future contracted research and development (CRAD) opportunities

    • Leads visit logistics, agenda formulation, and tour planning.

    • Positions Boeing to be competitive for future CRAD efforts

  • Serves as Capture Team Lead (CTL) for significant new business opportunities

    • Composes and provides leadership to multi-disciplinary capture teams, to compose high-quality, winning proposals.

    • Collaborates cross-organizationally with other business units to maximize impact of awarded opportunities.

    • Mentors and develops CTL skills amongst team.

    • Presents for gate reviews, strategy reviews, and executive clearance reviews with senior leadership and stakeholders

  • With MST Director, leads Annual Strategy Summit, including reviewer and presenter coordination, and creating processes for managing roadmap generation and configuration control.

    • Ensures effective communication of strategy to MST team and to senior leadership.

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.  This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the futureThis position is expected to be hybrid on-site, with greater than 60 of time onsite in the office.  The position will require travel, and will have periods of time where responsibilities will require 100 onsite. 

This position requires an active U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of science (or greater) from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, electrical engineering or chemistry or other technical degree

  • 10+ years of experience leading people in a technical environment as a team lead or manager

  • Experience in new business development, capture, and proposal authoring

  • Experience working with external companies or universities

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Advanced degree (ie. Masters, PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or related technical discipline.

  • Active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active), and ability to complete a CI (Counter Intelligence) polygraph after employment start.

  • 3+ years of experience in engineering research and development (or working in an advanced R&D environment).

  • Demonstrated record of success shaping and capturing new business, including authoring of high-quality proposals and leading capture teams.

  • Specialized knowledge and experience in the field of microelectronics and semiconductors, including involvement in design, verification, fabrication, test, or analysis of ASIC, System On Chip (SoC), System in Package (SIP), FPGA, RFIC, and MMIC.

  • Specialized knowledge and experience developing mission systems and affiliated electronics employing technologies, such as Digital, Mixed Signal and RF Microelectronics, Sensors, Antennas & Apertures, Communications, Photonics, Cyber Security, Networks and Quantum Technologies

  • Experience in authoring, developing, and negotiating agreements with external partners, including Government, Corporate, and Academic organizations, such as contracts, subcontracts, statements of work (SOW), IP licenses, teaming agreements, and MOUs.

  • Proficient with Microsoft applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, and Project

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills

  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills

  • Demonstrated creative, critical thinking and troubleshooting skills

Summary pay range: $192,950 – 261,050
